What’s On: Threat Level Midnight Thursday!

The Vampire Diaries “The Dinner Party” 8:00 on CW

Nothing gets me more pumped than a TV sweeps dinner party. TOnight’s party should be extra wild as the completely supernaturally ignorant Aunt Jenna (Sara Canning) will be in attendance as Alaric’s (Matt Davis) date. Meanwhile, Stefan regales Elena with stories of his past. And Jeremy and Bonnie cross Jonas and Luka (guest stars Randy Goodwin from Girlfriends, and Bryton McClure, Richie from Family Matters)

Bones “The Bikini in the Soup” 9:00 on FOX

The Jeffersonian gang celebrated Valentine’s day and tries to solve the murder of a wedding planner who was stabbed in the heart. Elon Gold returns as Cam’s boyfriends and Eugene Byrd returns as squint Clark Edison. Edison is one of my favorite of the revolving door squints, I love how he’s growing and letting the team in.

The Office “Threat Level Midnight” 9:00 on NBC

After years, nad I do mean years, Michael is finally ready to premiere his film Threat Level Midnight, the spy story about Agent Michael Scarn and his love Catherine Zeta-Jones. It was in the second season episode, the Client, where Pam finds the script in his desk. David Denman (Roy) Melora Hardin (Jan Levinson) Rashida Jones (Karen Filipelli) Andy Buckley (David Wallace) and Linda Purl (Helene Beesley, Pams Mom), who are all former regulars with the exception of Purl return tonight in scenes from THREAT LEVEL MIDNIGHT. No promo, just an early table read for the Scarn adventure.

Parks and Recreation “Media Blitz” 9:30 on NBC

Maybe my expectations for Ron and Tammy II were too high, it took me two or three viewings to love it for what it is. Tonight has Leslie, Tom and Ben promoting the Harvest Festival, and Ben has to deal with a lot of questions regarding his political past. I’m excited for Adam Scott (Ben) to have a little more to do than follow around Leslie and Chris (Rob Lowe). In lieu of promo I have a feature on Andy aka Burt Maclin, FBI.

Fairly Legal “The Two Richards” 10:00 on USA

I really enjoy this series, Sarah Shahi could sell a drowning man water and she’s incredibly charming here as a lawyer who quits the profession to become a mediator. What’s a mediator you ask? Let Shahi and USA explain it to you.

The Mentalist “Red Gold” 10:00 on CBS

Lisbon gets injured on the job which forces Hightower (recurring guest Aunjanue Ellis) to partner with Jane in solving the mystery of a prospector kiled with a Colt 45. The Mentalist goes western. I’m happy Ellis is getting more screen time lately, she’s well cast here but till now hasn’t been given much to do..

Everything Else:

Kunta Kinte/Geordi LaForge/Reading Rainbow Host Alert!

Community 8:00 on NBC – If you can tell by my excitement above the one and only LEVAR BURTON is guest starring tonight. I’ll cover more of tonight’s plot later in the day in a separate post, but it looks like a doozy.

American Idol 8:00 on FOX – Last night’s episode was rather compelling. Groups is my favorite though, we’ll see how our faves stack up in their last shot before the semis.

The Big Bang Theory 8:00 on CBS – Howard contemplates moving in with Bernedette. Contemplates? Really? it seems like a no brainer considering Howard’s current roommate.

Wipeout 8:00 on ABC – Ugh… not tonight – too much hot tubery.

Season Finale Alert!

Shit My Dad Says 8:30 on CBS – It’s ratings aren’t toilet enough for fans to worry. Fans should worry about the fact that they like this show, which has the really classy Camille Grammer guest starring.

Perfect Couples 8:30 on NBC – I like it. I don’t care what anyone says. Vance and Amy’s (David Walton and Mary Elizabeth Ellis) fighting is hilarious, as is Rex’s (Hayes McArthur) binge drinking and Leigh’s (Olivia Munn) emascualtion of him. This show’s biggest problem is that it feels the need to be anchored to the real world, whereas if it embraced it’s wackier side and became a relationship comedy more in the vein of Arrested Development of 30 Rock it might have had a chance. Fox’s Traffic Light does seemingly effortlessly what Perfect Couples tries very, very hard to do.

CSI 9:00 on CBS – Revisiting old plots is CSI’s game tonight, as Bill Irwin (Rachel Getting Married) returns to the role of The Dick and Jane killer and so does Justin Bieber. Yup that Justin Bieber. He plays the brother of the boy Nick shot and killed in the premiere.

Grey’s Anatomy 9:00 on ABC – Tonight Bailey gets her some of that Nurse Eli played by guest star Daniel Sunjata, who has the distinction of being the first non-doctor character to receive the same open-ended contract that made every subsequent character after the season’s first, a regular. In a few weeks James Tupper who played the psychiatrist who had a fling with Teddy returns to with the same contract. Probably to mess things up between her and guest star/current TV husband, Scott Foley.

Nikita 9:00 on CW – Ashton Holmes’ character Tom died. Tiffany Hines is proving irrelevant and Melinda Clarke is just plain wasted.

Royal Pains 9:00 on USA – The hair of the Fueueueueueueustein and Mr. Costanzo’s drive me wild. I empathize with Sue Sylvester’s hate of the Shue.

30 Rock 10:00 on NBC – Jenna helps Liz deal with her bad breakup. Girls Night! I was recently thinking about how those friends need some non-work screen time.

Archer 10:00 on FX – A lot of people love this, it’s a little hit and miss for me though, lasts episode was just okay so hopefully tonight will be better.

Jersey Shore 10:00 on MTV – I wonder if Sammy will still be in the credits. Ha. Loser.

Private Practice 10:00 on ABC – Melrose hunk Grant Show guest
