What’s On: Red John Thursday

There’s a lot of finale’s on tonight with the remaining series ending tonight; the star studded Office finale, a double dose of Parks and Recreation, Did Bones bone Booth?, the Shonda lady-doc finales, Big Bang and of course The Mentalist’s two hour Red John extravaganza. Here are our recommendations for tonight, Thursday May 18, 2011.

3rd Season Finale!
The Mentalist “Strawberries and Cream, parts 1 & 2” 9:00 on CBS

Like all season finales of The Mentalist tonight’s 2 hour finale focuses on Red John, the prolific serial killer that murdered Jane’s family. One recurring character is going to be named Red John’s accomplice and as if that wasn’t enough, Patrick Jane is going to come face to face with the big bad himself. The mystery of the mole inside CBI/murderer of cop-killer Todd Johnson has been one of the more interesting ongoing arcs on a procedural, but that’s always been the Mentalist’s strong point. Hints have pointed at CBI director Gale Bertram (guest star Michael Weston), in the episode Red Queen he quoted William Blake which Red John quoted to Jane in the during their encounter in the second season finale. I think that was a red herring and believe the mole to be Craig O’Laughlin (guest star Eric Winter), having him turn out to be the mole would be the most convenient way to free up Van Pelt for a reunion with Rigsby.

4th Season Finale!
The Big Bang Theory “The Roommate Transmogrification” 8:00 on CBS

Bernadette receives her PhD making Howard the only one in the group who isn’t a doctor. Also Raj moves in with Sheldon after he hears Leonard soil Star Trek by role playing with Priya.

6th Season Finale!
Bones “The Change in the Game” 9:00 on FOX

The finale aired on one random Canadian network yesterday and I really enjoyed it. Bones and Booth go undercover on Max’s (Ryan O’Neal) bowling team to solve a murder. Meanwhile Angela goes into labour. The promo teases a huge bombshell and I can safely tell you it’s something you didn’t see coming. My jaw frikkin’ dropped (if you MUST know and you should really watch it, but if you MUST click here)

7th Season Finale!!!
Grey’s Anatomy “Unaccompanied Minor” 9:00 on ABC

It was one year ago that Grey’s changed the course of their downhill fate by capping off two horrible cloying season with a game changer, and while tonight’s finale will not pack the same punch the betrayal at the tail of the last episode is definitely a game changer. Meredith and Alex’s relationship has been so consistent, real and fun, I’ll be genuinely sad to see it gone. I can’t believe Alex narc’d on her… now I kinda don’t want him to be Chief Resident (and I totally did before, I have a feeling it’ll be Avery… or Yang). If the promo below is any indication McDreamy can’t handle being Mclied to. I hope he doesn’t leave for realsies – I thought the up and down of their relationship was dunzo.

7th Season Finale!!!
The Office “The Search Committee, parts 1 & 2” 9:00 on NBC

Ray Romano, James Spader, Catharine Tate, Ricky Gervais, Will Arnett and Jim Carrey are all in contention for the vacant spot left by Michael Scott’s departure. Kathy Bates guest stars too. I have a feeling that season 8 will have a series of rotating bosses but you never know, they could hire from within, Andy and Darryl are both up for the job too. And don’t rule out any of the guest stars either, well except Arnett who’s new show is on NBC’s fall schedule and Romano who works full time on TNT’s Men of a Certain Age. I’d love if it was Gervais, but the Brent character is far too mean for this crew. Jim Carrey would be great too but he has a semi lucrative film career kinda so I’d doubt he’s stay on full time.

3rd Season Finale!

Parks & Recreation “The Bubble” & “L’il Sebastian” 10:00 on NBC

The best sitcom on NBC ends its shortened second season tonight. The delay between season two and three was excruciating, but I need not fret for season 4 which comes back in the fall (it’s 30 Rock that’s taking the pregnancy break this year). The first episode has everyone in the office unhappy with Chris’ new changes. Leslie is caught off guard when Ben has a meeting scheduled with her mother (guest star Pamela Reed). The second episode is about the death of a beloved character. Tom, tasked with setting up the funeral, makes a big life decision. GIVE ME 24 EPISODES NEXT SEASON NBC!!! Who’s Li’l Sebastian?

4th Season Finale!
Private Practice “… to change the thing I can” 10:01 on ABC

Audra McDonald’s last episode as a series regular. Oceanside Wellness is threatened as are its doctors and they have to decide whether to fight to fix and save it or go their separate was. I’m gonna check in tonight, I normally don’t but I saw a season three Grey’s Anatomy ep and damn it I miss Addison. Another reason to tune in? Benjamin Bratt starts tonight before becoming a full fledged regular.

The Best:

American Idol 8:00 0n FOX – I hope Lauren Alaina goes home. Haley Reinhart killed Led Zeppelin.

Wipeout 8:00 on ABC – The last of the spring editions, summer wipeout comes soon.

5th Season Finale
Rules of Engagement 8:30 on CBS – Next year this anchor’s saturday night. Saturday night? What is this? 1992 on NBC? If I want to watch sitcoms on saturday I’ll go back in time and check out Empty Nest and Golden Girls.

Secret Diary of a Call Girl 10:30 on SHO – Secret Diary of I DONT CARE. NOT TONIGHT, SWEETHEART!

FALL 2011: CBS’ Fall Schedule! UPDATED WITH PROMOS!

With less cancellations and pick ups than other broadcast networks (CBS didn’t have that many slots to fill) the biggest surprises were time slot shifts for The Good Wife, which moves from tuesday at 10 to sunday at 9 and CSI, which for the first time in as long as I can remember is moving from it’s thursday at 9 home to wednesday at 10 pm. Tuesday at 10 is now home to Unforgettable about a detective who remembers everything and Person of Interest, (that’s them filming above) the new drama from JJ Abrams takes CSI’s old slot. The supernatural medical drama A Gifted Man joins Blue Bloods on friday and the new sitcom, How To Be A Gentleman starring David Hornsby (Rickety Cricket) and Kevin Dillon.

UNFORGETTABLE, starring Dylan Walsh and Poppy Montgomery as a former detective with a rare condition that enables her to remember virtually every detail from every day of her life.

A GIFTED MAN about a preeminent surgeon whose life changes forever when his deceased ex-wife returns, starring Patrick Wilson and Jennifer Ehle.

2 BROKE GIRLS, a comedy about two strikingly different young waitresses who form an unlikely friendship, starring Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs.

HOW TO BE A GENTLEMAN, starring David Hornsby and Kevin Dillon, about a refined magazine columnist and his very unrefined personal trainer.

What’s On: Thursday’s Season Finales!

A few finales, some character death, and a double dose of Parks and Recreation. May is pretty much my favorite month so far (at least until Sept when all my babes come back to me) Here are our recommendations for tonight, Thursday May 12, 2011.

What’s Hot:

Second Season Finale Alert!
Community “For a Few Paintballs More” 8:00 on NBC

Last weeks “A Fistful of Paintballs” was one of Community’s strongest efforts yet, it was the perfect followup to last years masterpiece Modern Warfare. The use of Paintball to explore and parodize sub genres within the Action genre is genius. We ended last week with that crazy Ice Cream lady sending in commandos to take out everyone so no one can claim the $100,000 prize. If the 30 second promo is any indication, this will be momentous, and I’m not talking about the Magnatude cameo. POP POP!

Second Season Finale Alert!
The Vampire Diaries “As I Lay Dying” 8:00 on CW

Last week was truly a bloodbath, and Jeremy and Elena were effectively left with no parents as Aunt Jenna and Uncle John (Elena’s biological father) died. We last left Damon with his Tyler inflicted wolf bite slowly infecting him and killing him as surely as it did Rose (Lauren Cohan). I’m more interested in seeing how the plot with Caroline and her mother Sherriff Forbes (Marguerite McIntyre) turns out.

11th Season Finale Alert!
CSI “In A Dark, Dark, House” 9:00 on CBS

Langston comes face to face with the Dick and Jane Killer, Nate Haskell (Bill Irwin) and someone is gonna lose their life. My bet is on Conrad Ecklie kicking the bucket, (Elizabeth Harnois joins full time next season as his daughter), or Langston’s wife (guest star Tracee Elise Ross)

First Season Finale Alert!
Nikita “Pandora” 9:00 on CW

Since the mid season rejiggering the series while gaining a little focus has lost the grittiness that made this series unique. Actually it’s quite lame now, it has been since Michael and Nikita got together. It’s been a rough first season and while the series is still on the bubble, advance word is that it’s poised for a renewal over Hellcats and that teh season two pitch meeting with the network executives went really, really well. I’m hoping for a good cliffhanger to keep me going until the fall. Check out a promo for tonight.

Bones “The Hole in the Heart” 9:00 on FOX

Booth goes up against sniper Jacob Broadsky (guest star Arnold Vosloo) and someone loses their life in the battle. SPOILER ALERT**(Hart Hanson told TVline that the victim is a beloved recurring, and is therefor likely Vincent Nigel Murray played by Ryan Cartwright as he’s the only recurring listed on the press release. I don’t know what’ll have people talking more, the character death or the fact that it looks like after many years of “will they” or “wont they” they will. Also Tina Majorino (Veronica Mars, Big Love) guest stars.

Parks and Recreation “The Fight” & “Road Trip” 9:30 & 10:00 on NBC

Oh Frabjous Day! NBC, in an effort to have all their series end around the same time is unloading two episodes tonight and two next week. First, when Ann is offered a government job by Leslie but seems less than enthused, Leslie takes offense commencing their first fight since becoming friends. Meanwhile Tom invited everyone to the Snake Lounge for the premiere for his new drink Snake Juice. The second episode, called ‘Road Trip’ has Chris sending Ben and Leslie to Indianapolis. Watching thses two comic pros try and deny their feelings will be pure joy. Also in the second episode, Ron teaches a new student about his views on government. Since NBC is a big ass I don’t have promos, just some of the best clips from the last few weeks.

The Rest:

American Idol 8:00 on FOX – Are Randy and J. Lo trying to sabotage Haley? I’m glad homegirl fought back a little last night.

The Big Bang Theory 8:00 on CBS – Howard tells his mother he’s engaged to a shiksa. You can imagine how she’ll react..

Wipeout 8:00 on ABC – Ugh.

Rules of Engagement 8:30 on CBS – Classic Sitcom Trope #56: Wife makes more than husband, effectively emasculating him.

Grey’s Anatomy 9:00 on ABC – The fight for chief resident takes some shocking turns as one doc betrays another.

The Office 9:00 on NBC – Episode Title: Dwight K Schrute, (Acting) Manager. Sounds good, but for the last few years Dwight’s plots have gone from odd to increasingly over the top. I have a feeling this will follow in that trend.

The Mentalist 10:00 on CBS – Tonight’s ep is a lighter one before the two hour season finale that will bring the season long arc of who’s Red John’s mole inside the CBI and the murderer of Red John friend and cop killer Todd Johnson.

Private Practice 10:01 on ABC – Orphaned Betsy shows up at the ER leaving Oceanside asking questions about her foster care.

That’s the haps for tonight, check back tomorrow for more TV goodness!

What’s On: Paintball Thursday!

Good day fellow Telephiles. It’s a monumentous thursday, deaths, weddings, and a buttload of paintball. Here are our recommendations for tonight, Thursday May 5 2011.

The Tops:

Community “A Fistful of Paintballs” 8:00 on NBC

Community’s best episode ever was last season’s Modern Warfare, it was probably the best comedy episode of 2010. Tonight Greendale revisits paintball and damn it looks great. Community’s mostly stellar second season had a few great event episodes (Christmas, Dungeons and Dragons) but nothing matching the pure greatness of Warfare. Obviously I have extrememly high expectations, and with Josh Holloway guest starring I refused to be let down. The hardest part will probably be waiting from now till next week to see the season finale’s conclusion.

The Vampire Diaries “The Sun Also Rises” 8:00 on CW

Jenna is in transition?!? Klaus has Elena? Damon got bit by Tyler? The last episode while not the strongest set in motion the final pieces of the season long Klaus Arc and I have no idea what’s going to happen or who’s gonna bite the dust (but someone IS dying tonight), but I’m excited to see it all go down. The Vampire Diaries biggest crime is that not much happens in the set up episodes, but the payoffs are always violent and fun. Next week’s finale is more romance centered, but will probably also be used to set in motion the events of next season. The Katherine twist/cliffhanger from last season still gives me chills.

Grey’s Anatomy “White Wedding” 9:00 on ABC

The first wedding on ABC tonight has Calzone tying the knot! Aww… Check out the clips to see the kind of emotionally manipulative hour we have on tap for this evening.

Parks and Recreation “Eagleton” 9:30 on NBC

Leslie goes head to head with her former best friend and Eagleton Parks employee Lindsay (guest star Parker Posey), when she puts up a fence in a park separating the two neighbouring towns. Word is a class war ensues. No promo (stupid NBC) just a pic.

Fifth Season Finale Alert!

30 Rock “Respawn” 10:00 on NBC

I’m still having trouble with the fact that Jack’s wife Avery has been kidnapped and assimilated into North Korea. Tonight Jack uses Kenneth to replace Avery, also Liz tries to enjoy her hiatus but her Hamptons stay is ruined by Tracy, and Jenna and Paul (guest star Will Forte) have a disagreement regarding her career. No promo either, just trust that it’ll be good. Vacation Liz looks great, huh?

The Rest:

American Idol 8:00 on FOX – Why do the judges hate on Haley? Lauren is WAY more offensive.

The Big Bang Theory 8:00 on CBS – Penny uses Bernedette to try to break up Priya (guest star Aarti Mann) and Leonard.

Wipeout 8:00 on ABC – Bored now.

Rules of Engagement 8:30 on CBS – Please CBS, free Warburton from this mess.

CSI 9:00 on CBS – Someone’s dying in the next few weeks. I say it’s Conrad Ecklie.

Bones 9:00 on FOX – Things get serious for a few weeks before a lighter finale.

The Office 9:00 on NBC – D’Angelo officially takes over and shit doth hit the fan.

Nikita 9:00 on CW – Amanda (Melinda Clarke) has Alex in her clutches and know what she’s up to. And shockingly I still can’t be bothered to care anymore.

The Mentalist 10:00 on CBS – I’m really interested to see who the mole in the CBI is. My money is on Grace’s pretty-boy fiance (Eric Winter).

Private Practice 10:01 on ABC – After a tough year, Charlotte and Cooper tie the knot tonight.

Outsourced 10:30 on NBC – Just die already, so charming lead Ben Rappaport can find a project suited to his talents.

Secret Diary of a Call Girl 10:30 on SHO – Rose Tyler in sexy and compromising situations. That the only reason any of you pervs watch right?

What’s On: Michael Scott’s Last Thursday!

The day we knew was coming but never thought would arrive is here. It’s Michael Scott’s last day at Dunder/Mifflin Sabre. Personally I though the show would die when Steve Carrel had had enough, but I’m happy its not. If last weeks impromptu Rent number was any indication tonight as Michael put it; “is gonna hurt like a MotherFu*ker” It’s a jam packed sweeps night and though the night BELONGS to the Office, there’s a lot more on. Here are our recommendations for tonight, April 28 2011.

The Office “Goodbye, Michael” 9:00 to 9:52 on NBC

To call Steve Carrell a TV star is a disservice. Patrick Dempsey is a TV star, Carrell is a TV legend. It takes the most skilled actor and comedian to take a character so void of sense and make him likable. Over the years Michael has given us many brilliant moments etched in the histories of TV. His swan song wont dissappoint, in the past when The Office has been called upon to make great TV, even recently it has, Jim and Pam’s wedding lived up to its anticipation. and the Michael’s proposal to Holly was classic. Tonight should be no different. Check back tomorrow for a recap and farewell!

What’s Hot:

Community “Applied Anthropoly and Culinary Arts” 8:00 on NBC

Shirley goes into labour during the Anthropology final exam. Don’t have a promo, so you’ll have to settle for a great clip from season one. Last Week’s flashback episode was so well done it’ll be hard to top it this week. And next week comes PAINTBALL!!!

The Vampire Diaries “The Last Day” 8:00 on CW

So Elijah and Klaus are brothers? and there is no Sun and the Moon Curse? Last week was chock full of revelations and really not much else – well American Idol Alum Lisa Tucker guest starring as a witch counts right? Tonight leads into the penultimate episode next week which is said to have a monumental and tragic loss of life. I am wroght with anxiety. Also Tyler Lockwood returns just in time for the full moon! PS – Can’t believe Aunt Jenna and Matt know!

The Big Bang Theory “The Agreement Dissection” 8:00 on CBS

Leonard has Priya take a look at the fabled roommate agreement while the girls take Sheldon dancing. Since the series began my favorite ongoing joke is The Roommate Agreement, so I’m happy to see it getting a little more screen time. Also Sheldon and Amy kiss!

]

Bones  “The Pinocchio in the Planter” 9:00 on FOX

Bones and Booth find the body of a man who was a member of a “Radical Honesty” group, so the gang decides to try it out. Will probably be a lighter episode considering the assassin plot is coming back in the next few weeks.

Grey’s Anatomy “It’s a Long Way Back” 9:00 on ABC

The Seattle Grace gang works together to help Callie and her baby Sofia get through the painful healing process. Meanwhile a clinical trial patient dies making Derek worry more about Meredith. And Alex makes a stunnning move for Chief Resident.

Parks and Recreation “Jerry’s Painting” 9:52 – 10:30 on NBC

A painting of Jerry’s makes a splash at the art show Leslie organizes and Ben moves in with Andy and April and attempts to teach them to be adults. No promo, instead a clip of my favorite moment from last week’s episode Soulmates!

30 Rock “Everything Sunny All the Time Always” 10:30 on NBC

Moving to 10:30 to make room for extra juicy Office and Parks. Last week’s 100th episode was genius “Sharks don’t have claws. You don’t even know what a shark is anymore” Here’s a clip in lieu of a promo cause I don’t got one.

The Rest:

American Idol 8:00 on FOX – 1 of 6 goes home. Jacob I hope.

Rules of Engagement 8:30 on CBS – Meh to the max.

Call Me Fitz 9:00 on The 101 Network – Brandon Walsh’s new Canadian show.

Nikita 9:00 on CW – Has gotten pretty lame since Nikita teamed up with Shane West. And is STILL don’t buy Shane West as a bad-ass at all. Still lovin’ Maggie Q though.

CSI 9:00 on CBS –  Former regular Louise Lombard returns as Detective Sophia Curtis as the hunt for Serial Killer Nate Haskell intensifies.

The Mentalist 10:00 on CBS – The man hired by Jane to investigate LaRoche turns up as a suspect in CBI’s investigation.

Private Practice 10:01 on ABC – Benjamin Bratt arrives soon!

Running Wilde 10:00 on FX – FX burns off the last 4 episodes of the failed Will Arnett/Keri Russell Sitcom.

The Secret Diary of a Call Girl 10:30 on SHO – Billie Piper is a long way from Rose Tyler.

What’s On: Estranged Mommy Thursday

The CW and it’s incredibly addictive vampire series are back finally after what seemed like an unforgivably long absence, and with the news that before the end of the season a series regular will bite the dust (Alaric? Matt? Tyler?) it looks like VD is shaping up for a wild tail end of the season. Also on tap, the return of Lady Heather to CSI and a cross-border Bones. Here are our recommendations for tonight, Thursday April 7 2011.

The Hots:

The Vampire Diaries “Know Thy Enemy” 8:00 on CW

Thank Klaus that VD is back tonight. The cliffhanger of Isobel showing up to fuck with Elena and Alaric’s lives was perfect. It’s a waste to have an actress like Mia Kirshner, someone who can both be sweet and insanely menacing, in your cadre of characters and not use her to the max. Till now she’s been a ghost haunting the characters from afar, much like Katherine in the first season. The wonderful David Anders guest stars too.

Nikita “Covenant” 9:00 on CW

Nikita’s creative retooling proved successful, freeing Alex (Lyndsy Fonseca) from the constraints of the Division headquarters was a smart move. Even more smart was escalating the drama, having Michael (Shane West)  discover that Alex is Nikita’s mole. Tonight he gives Nikita 24 hours to kill the man (played by Nurse Jackie’s Ha’az Sleiman) who killed his family. Also 2 Series regulars, Melinda Clarke (Amanda) and  Tiffany Hines (Jaden) turn up in their recurring roles on CSI and Bones respectively.

Bones “The Feet on the Beach” 9:00 on FOX

7 pairs of feet wash ashore, 6 are from cadavers donated to science which means one is MURDER! Queer As Folk’s Scott Lowell guest stars as a Canadian Forensic Podiatrist. This looks like its going to be one of the more disgusting Bones episodes yet (which is saying something). Tiffany Hines guests here in her recurring role as Cam’s adopted daughter first played by Dana Davis.

CSI “Unleashed” 9:00 on CBS

Two words: Lady Heather. Nuff said? Thought so.

Archer “Jeu Monagasque” 10:00 on FX

In the wake of last week’s kidnapping fiasco Mallory Archer takes the gang to Monte Carlo and in doing so sets up a Bond parody like only Archer can. I still can’t get over Placebo Effect from two weeks ago.

The Rest:

American Idol 8:00 on FOX – I really hope Lagone goes home.

The Big Bang Theory 8:00 on CBS – I’m so over Priya, but the thought of Rajesh stealing Bernedette from Howard is amazing.

The Kennedys 8:00 on REELZ – Barry Pepper was great in True Grit, but in this he chews the scenery.

Perfect Couples 8:30 on NBC – Vance and Amy’s wedding prep drives everyone mad. This is the last episode to air before it gets replaced by Paul Reiser next week. Maybe NBC will air them online.

Rules of Engagement 8:30 on CBS – Bianca Kajlich was Dawson Leery’s girlfriend while Oliver Hudson was Joey Potter’s boyfriend and now their married. Coincidence.

The Real Housewives of New York 10:00 on Bravo! – The Bethany free 4th season begins tonight.

The Mentalist 10:00 on CBS – V’s Morena Baccarin guest stars as a formidable foe for Patrick Jane.

The Secret Diary of a Call Girl 10:30 on SHO – The American premiere of the ITV series’ 4th season.

Outsourced 10:30 on NBC – After tonight only three left till this hopefully dies.

If you’re wishing NBC’s sitcoms were new tonight, you’re not alone. Next weeks we’ll get Stephen Tobolowski on Community, April and Andy’s dinner party, Will Ferrell on the Office and the return of Tracy Jordan to TGS.

What’s On: Musical Grey’s Thursday

Tonight Grey’s goes musical. Will it work? Maybe. The problem I forsee is that in singing songs that the Grey’s soundtrack made famous in the first place, they’re already worn out. I mean after the second season finale, Snow Patrol’s Chasing Cars was on every playlist and rotation for years. i have a feeling I’ll love it though, mainly becuase the super sexy Kate Walsh (Addison Montgomery, star of Private Practice) is back. Elsewhere newly renewed Archer – coming off it’s funniest ep EVER – is new tonight as is The Big Bang Theory, which are among our recommendations for tonight,  Thursday March 31 2011

Neato:

The Big Bang Theory “The Zarnecki Incursion” 8:00 on CBS

SOmeone hacks into Sheldon’s online RPG account and decimates his character and the boys try to figure out who the culprit is. I say it’s Priya. But more likely it’s Sheldon’s nemesis Actor and geek, Wil Wheaton.

Grey’s Anatomy “Song Beneath the Song” 9:00 (to 10:01) on ABC

It’s musical time as I mentioned before, and the cast of Grey’s is gonna sing songs that were used and made famous in the series. Songs like Anna Nalick’s Breathe, Snow Patrol’s Chasing Cars, The Fray’s How To Save A Life and Brandi Carslile’s The Story will be sung by the castmembers. Not all the cast sings though, from what I hear Sara Ramirez, Kevin McKidd, Chyler Leigh and Chandra Wilson. I hope Karev sings. I hope this works. The clip below begins kind of intensely…

Archer “El Secuestro” 10:00 on FX

Last week’s cancer-med scam episode was by far and large the best episode of Archer to date. It was everything that Archer has come to stand for, scatagorical hilarity mixed with wit and boundary pushing action. Tonight Pam, Isis’ office mattress gets kidnapped. Keep it up guys.

Weirdo:

American Idol 8:00 on FOX – Man Haley killed it last night. Check out the recap posted below!

Wipeout 8:00 on ABC – It brings schadenfreude to a new level.

Perfect Couples 8:00 on NBC – This is being replaced by Paul Reiser’s show. I haven’t liked Reiser since Aliens.

Rules of Engagement 8:30 on CBS – David Putty and Dennis Finch.

CSI 9:00 on CBS – I’m waiting for Lady Heather.

Mobbed 9:00 on FOX – Howie Mandell’s flash mob as singing telegram series.

Jersey Shore 10:oo on MTV – Last week was the underwhelming finale – underwhelming becuase it focusen on Ronnie and Sam. Maybe in Italy they won’t be such jackasses, but this season they were. Tonight is the reunion.

The Mentalist 10:00 on CBS – Taking a break from the ongoing plot about Red John, Hightower and JJ LaRoche and focuses on a single mystery (and Grace’s lovelife). Frances Conroy (Six Feet Under’s Matriarch) guest stars and Frances Conroy is not one to mess with. She can go from warm to creepy in a second. She would have made a great Mags Bennett (not that I’d ever take that away from Margo Martindale)

Private Practice 10:01 on ABC – Academy Award Winner Louise Fletcher (One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest) guest stars as Cooper’s mother as preparations for his wedding to Charlotte ramp up. The episode is also directed by Paul Adelstein, the actor that plays Cooper.

No NBC comedies tonight… can you make it two more weeks?
