What’s On: Monday After Superbowl a.k.a. 1st Monday of Sweeps

What a game, eh? And there’s no better way to burn off the calories from a Superbowl party like watching 11 hours of primetime television, everyone is new tonight, everyone is back, and hot damn it’s gonna be a good night. Here are our recommendations for tonight, Monday February 7th, 2011

House “Family Practice” 8:00 on FOX

It’s a family affair as Candice Bergen plays both Cuddy’s mother and the patient who refuses to be treated. Also certified Show-Killer Paula Marshall guest stars as Cuddy’s sister. Even though every series she’s ever starred on (Cupid, Snoops, Out of Practice) has died an unceremonious and quiet death, I am still very fond of Paula Marshall and look forward to her tonight.

How I Met Your Mother “Oh Honey” 8:00 on CBS

Katy Perry guest stars as Zooey’s (guest star Jennifer Morrison) super hot cousin, who Marshall meets Rashomon-style via flashbacks from the group. Anyway she’ll apparently help Barney find his father. The clips below are from Katy Perry’s youtube page and DONT HAVE LAUGHTRACK. HIMYM seems so much better without it…

Two and a Half Men “Three Hookers and a Philly Cheesesteak” 9:00 on CBS

Umm… No. You know what. Too easy. Here’s the promo.

SERIES PREMIERE ALERT!!!!

THE CHICAGO CODE “Pilot” 9:00 on FOX

Tonight FOX’s best new drama (if we’re to trust advance word, and I DO!) premieres, The Chicago Code, from The Shield mastermind Shawn Ryan and Angel collaborator Tim Minear is about two former partners Teresa Colvin and Jarek Wysocki (Jennifer Beals and Jason Clarke above) who’s police careers take different paths; she is the newly promoted Police superintendent and he is a hard-boiled detective. She taps him to covertly investigate city corruption stemming from a corrupt Alderman played with menace by veteran Delroy Lindo. Also for fans of Friday Night Lights, it stars Matt Lauria (FNLs Luke Cafferty) as a young detective and Wysocki’s partner. Looks like it has the right amount of action and tense bureaucratic confrontations to be a network mix of The Shield and The Wire.

Hawaii Five-O “E Malama” 10:00 on CBS

The Five-O team must find and protect a witness to a very high profile murder case when she escapes assassins and runs deep into the jungle. Sounds like a lot of fun. I’m really happy Les Moonves found a vehicle for his boy toy O’Laughlin, and it looks like this will have a long, long life.

The Rest:

Chuck 8:00 on NBC – John Larroquette guest stars as an agent needing Chuck and Sarah’s distinct brand of rescue.

Pretty Little Liars 8:00 on ABC Family – I’ve been hanging out at Shooters a lot lately, and it’s really making me appreciate Laura Leighton.

90210 8:00 on CW – Cousin Emily really grinds my gears. Here’s hoping she dies tonight, which she doesn’t cause she’s around till the end of the season. Tonight Emily makes Annie’s life hell as she plots to sabotage an audition.

Rules of Engagement 8:30 on CBS – Is David Spade really like that?

The Cape 9:00 on NBC – Another notch in Summer Glau’s genre TV show belt that will die in about 6 episodes.

Greek 9:00 on ABC Family – Cappie and Casey spend a lovely evening together. What a lovely way to begin the swan song.

Gossip Girl 9:00 on CW – Damien Daalgard (Kevin Zegers) stirs up trouble on the upper east side.

Mike & Molly 9:30 on CBS – Mike’s mom asks Molly for help. Which, if you’ve ever see the show, is a really big deal.

Castle 10:00 on ABC – A lottery winner is murdered. Quel tragique!!!

Harry’s Law 10:00 on NBC – Guest star Christopher McDonald (who looks like he wants a regular contract on this show) takes on the fast food chains like they’re big tobacco.

Skins 10:00 on MTV – Tonight is the Cassie episode, except is not Cassie is it, it’s (hold on looking it up…) It’s Cadie. Anyways I miss Hanna Murray, her star child look really made Cassie the space cadet she’s meant to be.

Being Human 10:00 on Syfy – Speaking of not holding a candle, Lenora Critchlow is sorely missed in this North America version.

What are you watching tonight? I live in Canada, so I also have last night’s Showtime dramas and the premiere of Mr. Sunshine which I’ll review and cover for it’s US premiere on Wed. Have a great night, folks!
