Mother’s a Mystery till at least 2013!
While the future of CBS’s monday anchor 2 and a Half Men is still up in the air, TPTB over at the EYE have gone an renewed it’s second highest rated monday series How I Met Your Mother for not one but TWO seasons. You know, the longer it takes Ted to find the mother, the less believable it becomes that he’ll be able to have Lyndsy Fonseca (currently on Nikita) and David Henrie (the oldest Wizard of Waverly Place) by the time he transforms into Bob Saget.
NBC nabs an Oscar Winner, scores a HUGE
Battlestar Reunion and nabs Vanessa Kensington!
Three of NBC’s most buzzed about pilots; Steven Spielberg’s musical Smash and Ron Moore’s Wizard procedural The 17th Precinct, and David E. Kelley’s Wonder Woman have picked up some notable new cast members and it’s period drama Playboy has found it’s lead.
First, Battlestar Galactica mastermind Ron Moore’s magic-cop series which had previously cast Stockard Channing and Jamie Bamber (who starred as Apollo on Moore’s BSG) has added James Callis (BSG’s Dr. Baltar left) and Tricia Helfer (BSG’s Caprica Six among many other different and fully realized Sixes, right) to the cast and a massive erection has formed in my geek pants. Also Matt Long (Jack & Bobby and most recently as Joey, the dude Peggy fired on Mad Men) joins too.
Oscar Winner Anjelica Huston has taken her first regular TV gig as a bitchy NYC theatre producer in Spielberg’s Smash. The series, about the putting on of a Marilyn Monroe musical, has already cast Debra Messing (Grace of Will & …) as the lyricist, Jack Davenport (Flash Forward and the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy) as the choreographer and Idol Runner-up Katherine McPhee as a young ingenue. Outstanding addition as far as I’m concerned.
David E. Kelley’s Wonder Woman remake has cast Cary Elwes (The dashing Westley from The Princess Bride) as the CEO of Wonder Woman’s company. Most recently Elwes guest starred in the Expedition:British Columbia episodes of Psych as a notorious Cat Burglar. The series has also added Elizabeth Hurley as Veronica Cale, who is described as Wonder Woman’s Lex Luthor. The role isn’t a regular – yet, word is that’s just a formality to coax the commitment phobic Hurley. They join the previously cast Adrianne Palicki who stars as the Amazon princess.
And finally after loading up on hotties and David Krumholtz, NBC’s Playboy has cast the appropriately last named Jeff Hephner as the lead. He’ll play Nick Dalton, the ultimate playboy and keyholder at the exclusive club. Hephner is currently recurring on Hellcats as Red Raymond – I guess this means the end for him and Vanessa (Sharon Leal). He’s also been on The OC, and the tragically under appreciated Easy Money. Hephner joins Jenna Dewan-Tatum (Step Up), Naturi Naughton (Fame), Laura Benanti (Broadway’s Gypsy), Amber Heard (Drive Angry 3D), Leah Renee, Wes Ramsey (The EVENT) and David Krumholtz (Numbers).
