What’s On: Wednesday

Sheryl Lee (center) recreates the death scene that made her famous 20 years ago (with Ray Wise, right and Lenny Von Dohlen, left)

It’s Wednesday again people, and while last week’s featured ABC comedy block is taking the night off, there’s still plenty on the airwaves to keep you sane tonight. Here are our recommendations for tonight, Wednesday December 1, 2010.

The Best:

Survivor “You Started, You’re Finishing” 8:00 on CBS

Now while this has not been the best season of Survivor ever, it’s shaping up to be one of the more interesting ones. NaOnka is emerging as a real player, not that she can win, she’s much to terrible – I mean if Russell couldn’t win, NaOnka can’t possibly – right? Last week was the godforsaken clip show, hopefully tonight, we get some fireworks! The promo below teases that people may quit – I doubt it but we’ll see.

Premiere Alert!

Top Chef: All Stars, 10:oo on Bravo

I’m kinda new to the Top Chef world, I watched the last two seasons (and loved them to death) and I marathoned season 2 on a Labour day not too far back. I love the cattiness, supreme ego and world class bitchery the cheftestants display, and with this being a season of all stars I predict the shit shall hit-eth the fan… and fast. I’m pulling for Marcel from season 2 and Carla from season 5, Angelo and Tiffany from the most recent DC season also compete along with Eric Ripert protege Jen Carrol from season 6.

Twin Peaks Reunion Alert!!!

Psych “Dual Spires” 10:00 on USA

Twin Peaks is one of my favourite series off all time. Seriously – it holds up to Breaking Bad and Lost, and I can still watch it now, and in fact I am currently in the midst of a rewatch. If you’ve never seen it, Twin Peaks was a weird supernatural murder mystery series created by King of Weird, David Lynch. Asides from backwards speaking midgets and mystical giants, it focused on an FBI agent played by Kyle MacLachlan (Sex and the City, Desperate Housewives) coming to a small Washington state town called Twin Peaks to solve the murder of Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee) and ends up finding a town drenched in mystery and mythology and a damn fine cup of coffee. Original series stars Sherilyn Fenn, Dana Ashbrook, Sheryl Lee, Robyn Lively (Blake‘s older sister), Ray Wise, Lenny Von Dohlen and the Log Lady herself Catherine E. Coulson.

Below is a arguably Peaks’ most lasting and famous contribution to pop culture, expect a parody of some sorts tonight..

Here’s the scene from Peaks that still gives my the willies.

and finally promos for tonight!

But wait… is there more you ask? Why yes… yes there is… here is the rest:

America’s Next Top Model 8:00 CW – Season finale! Hate this show but still loooooove Tyra.

Human Target 8:00 Fox – Tonight’s episode focuses on Ames, the super hot thief the team added played by Janet Montgomery, I find her character to be a little to close to Parker (Beth Riesgraf) from Leverage – but we’ll see tonight if she makes an impact.

Hell’s Kitchen 9:00 Fox – Ramsay screams and whittles it down to the final three.

Hellcats 9:00 CW – Marti gets her cheermates to help her investigate the man who stole her laptop as she tries to solve the mystery of her legal case. If this series morphs into a Cheerleading/Legal drama I am so there.

The Whole Truth 10:00 ABC – ABC cancelled this legal drama after 4 low rated outings and it’s a shame too, Maura Tierney was perfect as tough-as-nails prosecutor and Morrow had never been less annoying as the fly by the pants of his seat theatrical defense lawyer. I loved how this series gave us both sides of the same case and let us decide for ourselves before revealing whether the client was guilty or innocent (in this series they were almost exclusively guilty). ABC is burning off the remainder of the episodes. Check it out if your into legal dramas.

Terriers 10:00 FX – FX’s drama about scruffy PIs starring Donal Logue (The War at Home) and Michael Raymond James (Rene, first season big bad on True Blood) are buddy PI’s who throughout the first season solve a myriad of cases and try to uncover a real estate conspiracy. I’m going to marathon this over the break, the conspiracy reminds me of the second season Veronica Mars mystery, the real estate aspect of which had me spellbound. Due to abysmal ratings there is a very strong chance we’ll say goodbye to the scrappy Terriers this week, most critics say this is worth watching.
