Tonight is veritable buffet of television. I love thursdays, When I settle in with my DVR to start the night of television I feel like a fat piggy slob rolling in my mud bath. Thursdays make me gluttonous, and for good reason. Here are our recommendations for tonight, Thursday November 11, 2010.
The Big Bang Theory “The 21 Second Excitation” 8:00 on CBS
Big Bang can be hit or miss for me, but tonight sounds like a grand slam. The boys embark to see Raiders of the Lost Ark theatrically (with an extra 21 seconds, hence the title) however, everything falls to shit when Sheldon’s nemesis Wil Wheaton shows up. The girls (which we can now say since Melissa Rauch became a series regular!) have a slumber party and invite Sheldon’s girl-who-is-a-friend, Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Biyalik). If only Wheaton and Biyalik would cross paths… well we can dream can’t we! Here’s tonight’s promo.
Community “Cooperative Calligraphy” 8:00 on NBC
Tonight Community parodies… duh duh duh.. MYSTERIES. Annie (the perfect Alison Brie) discovers her pen is missing and puts the study group on lockdown while she and Jeff conduct the search. I’m gonna say right now that Britta did it. Just a gut feeling. Maybe revenge for her kissing Jeff. Abed and Troy have a B-Plot about puppies. Here they are as Bert and Ernie.
Fringe “6955 kHz” 9:00 on Fox
We return to the Prime Universe tonight as the Fringe team investigates 15 people suffering retrograde amnesia from listening to the same frequency. Peter keeps digging into the mass destruction device. Easily one of the best series on television, I’d once written it off for being too formuleac, is now basking gloriously in its serialized, sci-fi roots. Please watch this series, it’s viewership is sadly low : ( Promo below.
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia “Dee Reynolds: Shaping America’s Youth” 10:00 on FX
Dee becomes a substitute teacher and the guys remake Lethal Weapon, with Dennis as Mel Gibson and yes, that’s Mac in black face as Danny Glover. One things for sure; I’ll never got too old for this shit.
Burn Notice “Eyes Open” 10:00 on USA
Burn Notice returns tonight. Michael tries to prevent a lawyer from blowing up a bunch of gang members. Now while this isn’t a show that I’m regular with, I don’t begrudge it’s existence one bit. Jeffrey Donovan is great as Michael Weston. He’s one of the coolest motherf*ckers on TV. Bruce Campbell, Gabrielle Anwar and Sharon Gless are no slackers either.
That was the best now here’s the rest: (but let’s be clear – this being Thursday, it is all the best.)
Bones, 8:00 Fox – Booth and Brennan discover a body on a slave ship. Sweets and Daisy keep is casual. Smart move hiring Apatow Alums Carla Gallo (Daisy) and John Francis Daley (Sweets).
The Vampire Diaries, 8:00 CW – Tonight on True Blood lite, Elena learns from Katherine (both Nina Doberv) the truth about the dopplegangers and how the oldest vampire EVER is looking for her.
30 Rock, 8:30 NBC – Jack tries to help the company by swaying a congressional election. John Slattery (Roger Sterling on Mad Men) plays the candidate. Elsewhere Jenna helps Tracy plan an event for the Golden Globes.
Grey’s Anatomy, 9:00 ABC – Most of the sexy surgeons treat a mysterious political figure, I say most because Christina continues not to be a surgeon. Tonight she redecorates and has a housewarming party. This series (like Desperate Housewives) is going through a creative renaissance after a few miserable ghost humping seasons, and its new cast members are finding their respective grooves, Sarah Drew (April Kepner) especially.
The Office, 9:00 NBC – The office continues to return high quarterly profits this season. Redemption is nice huh? Tonight focuses on the staff getting together to watch Glee. Sounds a little like the Hilary Swank face contest to me…
The Mentalist, 10 on CBS – Patrick gets kidnapped and the team goes through old cases. His hair sure is pretty.
That’s it for today, we’ll talk tomorrow!
