HART OF DIXIE! Fast-talking New Yorker and brand new doctor Zoe Hart has it all figured out – after graduating top of her class from medical school, she’ll follow in her father’s footsteps and become a cardio-thoracic surgeon.  But when her dreams fall apart, Zoe decides to accept an offer from a stranger, Dr. Harley Wilkes, to work with him at his small practice in Bluebell, Alabama.  Zoe arrives in this small Gulf Coast town only to find that Harley has passed away and left his half of the medical practice to her in his will.  She quickly finds that Southern hospitality isn’t always so hospitable – the other doctor in town, Brick Breeland, is less than pleased to be sharing the practice with this young outsider, and his daughter, Lemon, is a Southern belle whose sweet disposition turns sour when she meets Zoe.  Zoe’s only allies are the mayor, former football star Lavon Hayes, her bad-boy neighbor Wade Kinsella, and handsome lawyer George Tucker – who just happens to be Lemon’s fiancé.  Zoe is out of her element and ready to pack her bags, but a surprise visit by her snobby New York mother leads to Zoe’s decision to stay in Bluebell for a while, discovering small-town life and a side of herself she hadn’t known was there.  The series stars Rachel Bilson as Dr. Zoe Hart, Jaime King as Lemon Breeland, Wilson Bethel as Wade Kinsella, Cress Williams as Lavon Hayes, McKaley Miller as Rose and Scott Porter as George Tucker.

RINGER! Sarah Michelle Gellar stars as a woman who, after witnessing a murder, goes on the run, hiding out by assuming the life of her wealthy identical twin sister – only to learn that her sister’s seemingly idyllic life is just as complicated and dangerous as the one she’s trying to leave behind.  Bridget is six months sober and starting to turn her life around when she is the sole witness to a professional hit.  Despite the assurances of her FBI protector, Agent Victor Machado, Bridget knows her life is on the line.  She flees to New York, telling no one, not even her Narcotics Anonymous sponsor, Malcolm.  In New York, Bridget reunites with her estranged twin, Siobhan.  Wealthy, pampered and married to the strikingly handsome Andrew Martin, Siobhan lives what appears to be a fairy tale life – a life where no one knows that Bridget exists.  The sisters seem to be mending their frayed relationship, until Siobhan disappears mysteriously, and Bridget makes the split decision to take on her sister’s identity.  She discovers shocking secrets, not only about her sister and her marriage, but also about Siobhan’s best friend, Gemma, and Gemma’s husband, Henry.  And when someone tries to kill Bridget in her sister’s penthouse, she realizes she is no safer as Siobhan than she is as herself.  The series stars Sarah Michelle Gellar as Bridget and Siobhan, Kristoffer Polaha as Henry, Ioan Gruffudd as Andrew Martin, Nestor Carbonell as Agent Victor Machado and Tara Summers as Gemma.

H8R! Celebrities go head-to-head with civilians who hate them to win their “haters” over.  Hosted by Mario Lopez.

THE SECRET CIRCLE! Cassie Blake was a happy, normal teenage girl – until her mother Amelia dies in what appears to be a tragic accidental fire.  Orphaned and deeply saddened, Cassie moves in with her warm and loving grandmother Jane in the beautiful small town of Chance Harbor, Washington – the town her mother left so many years before – where the residents seem to know more about Cassie than she does about herself.  As Cassie gets to know her high school classmates, including sweet-natured Diana and her handsome boyfriend Adam, brooding loner Nick, mean-girl Faye and her sidekick Melissa, strange and frightening things begin to happen.  When her new friends explain that they are all descended from powerful witches, and they’ve been waiting for Cassie to join them and complete a new generation of the Secret Circle, Cassie refuses to believe them – until Adam shows her how to unlock her incredible magical powers.  But it’s not until Cassie discovers a message from her mother in an old leather-bound book of spells hidden in her mother’s childhood bedroom, that she understands her true and dangerous destiny.  What Cassie and the others don’t yet know is that darker powers are at play, powers that might be linked to the adults in the town, including Diana’s father and Faye’s mother – and that Cassie’s mother’s death might not have been an accident.  The series stars Britt Robertson as Cassie Blake, Thomas Dekker as Adam Conant, Gale Harold as Charles Meade, Phoebe Tonkin as Fay Chamberlain, Jessica Parker Kennedy as Melissa, Shelley Hennig as Diana Meade, Louis Hunter as Nick, Ashley Crow as Jane Blake and Natasha Henstridge as Dawn Chamberlain.

Remodeled! Modeling industry veteran Paul Fisher is planning to bring together hundreds of small agencies around the world in a new venture called The Network.  The Network will give Paul the leverage to change the industry from the inside out.  He has two missions: to make sure agents in small towns no longer get screwed, and to empower models to take control of their careers and lead healthier lives.  RE-MODELED is from Fly on the Wall Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television with executive producers Allison Grodner (“Big Brother,” “You’re Cut Off,” “She’s Got The Look,” “Plain Jane”), Rich Meehan (“Big Brother,” “You’re Cut Off,” “She’s Got The Look,” “Plain Jane”), Amy Palmer (“You’re Cut Off,” “Plain Jane”), Paul Fisher (“I Want To Be A Hilton”), Greg Seuss (“What’s Wrong with Virginia,” “Tug”) and Erik Stone (“Aisha Tyler Is Lit: Live at the Fillmore”).

What’s On: Finale Monday!

At least 8 series end tonight in what I’m sure will be thrilling and tense finales. Will Naomi Clark graduate? Is Sarah dead? Who’s wedding is Ted best man at? What brings Georgina Sparks back to the Upper East Side? and who’s the casualties on Castle and Hawaii Five-O? All will be answered tonight, Monday May 16, 2011.

Finales!

3rd Season Finale Alert!
90210 “To The Future!” 8:00 on CW

Ivy and Raj have an “A Walk To Remember” type wedding, Liam decides not to pursue a post-secondary education, Ryan and Debbie get written out of the series in what I’m sure will be a ridiculous but satisfying manner, and Adrianna’s revenge scheme on Silver gets revealed resulting in her banishment. But the biggest question on my mind is will Naomi Clark get to graduate with her friends? And why is Naomi Clark not only the best character on this series by far, but probably the best character on the CW? Tonight’s finale was written and directed by departing Showrunner Rebecca Sinclair, who is responsible for the creative turnaround at the end of the first season, so it should be great.

4th Season Finale Alert!
Chuck
“Chuck vs. The Cliffhanger” 8:00 on NBC

NBC beloved gem of a series ends it’s fourth season tonight with Chuck on a revenge rampage for his interrupted wedding. It returns on fridays next fall for a final 13 episode season. It’s really nice to see tv execs caring about the fans when they make their decisions.

6th Season Finale Alert!
How I Met Your Mother “Challenge Accepted”

Robin and Barney rebond when helping Ted get over Zoey until they run into Nora. Is the wedding Barney’s? Is he marrying Nora or Robin? Could this season have been any more focused on Daddy issues? Imagine it returns next season minus that awful laugh track?

4th Season Finale Alert!
Gossip Girl “The Wrong Goodbye” 9:00 on CW

This season has had its ups and downs, I mostly loved everything to do with Juliet, but the subsequent reprocussions have been really obnoxious, as has the Russell Thorpe/Raina plot line (Michael Boatman is a billion times better in his Good Wife recurring role. There are two shining beacons of joy on the horizons, first is the yearly finale visit by Georgina Sparks (Michelle Trachtenberg) and second that Vanessa Abrams and Jenny Humphrey will be persona non grata come next year. After 4 long seasons those obnoxious bitches will finally be gone.

First Season Finale Alert!
Mike & Molly “Peggy’s New Beau” 9:30 on CBS

I saw Bridesmaids over the weekend and Melissa McCarthy killed it. Go check that movie out! Tonight Mike and Molly are introduced to Peggy’s new boyfriend (played by True Blood and Deadwood’s William Sanderson.)

First Season Finale Alert!
Hawaii Five-O “Oia’i'o (Trust)” 10:00 on CBS

The wildly successfull first season comes to an end tonight as the team gets too close to Wo-Fat with devestating consequences. As the Governer cannot protect them any longer it’s time to pay for their actions. Also someone is dying. Mark Dacasos and Larissa Oleynik guest star.

3rd Season Finale Alert!
Castle “Knockout” 10:01 on ABC

Castle is usually one of the lighter procedurals on TV, unless its dealing with the murder of Beckett’s mother, which it does tonight. When Hal Lockwood (guest star Max Martini) escaped from prison the team discovers that Lockwood’s escape is linked to Joanna Beckett’s murder. The investigtion comes to a fatal and tragic conclusion; one of the regulars is dying tonight, and while plot and impact wise, killing Esposito, Ryan or Lainie would have a greater impact, but I have a feeling that the ill fated is Captain Montgomery, played by Ruben Santaigo-Hudson. It’s been a great third season for Castle and from what I hear it’s gonne be one helluva cliffhanger tonight.

The Rest:

Dancing With The Stars 8:00 on ABC – 4 “stars” are left.

House 8:00 on FOX – House deals with the reprocussion of taking an experimental drug.

The Secret Life of the American Teenager 8:00 on ABC Family – I want Molly Ringwald and Mark Derwin to sit on a table and eat a cake together.

Series Finale Alert!
Mad Love
8:30 on CBS – This awful series ends if awfully short awful run tonight.

The Chicago Code 9:00 on FOX – This was a great little series that too a little too long to find it’s footing, I hope that there’s some sort of conclusion before the series finale next week.

The EVENT 9:00 on NBC – There was so much promise with the cast and the concept, it’s a shame that it all fell totally and incredibly flat. I will especially miss Taylor Cole’s Vicky Roberts and Zeljko Ivanek’s Blake Sterling.

Make It or Break It 9:00 on ABC Family – I rewatched DJ’s anorexia episode of Full House the other day. It’s a classic.

Law & Order:LA 10:00 on NBC – Haha NBC, you cancelled the flagship only to greenlight this grittier version only to have it FAIL.

The Hard Times of RJ Berger 10:00 on MTV – Just the worst sitcom.

Nurse Jackie 10:00 on SHO – Edie Falco with short hair is so spunky!

The United States of Tara 10:30 on SHO – What a waste of everything.

BEST. FIRED. EVER.

Spotted, two of the most unbearable characters are getting the axe from the upper east side. I can barely contain my excitement because…

TAYLOR MOMSEN AND JESSICA SZOHR WERE FIRED!!!

It’s not really surprising considering how off to the side both Vanessa and Jenny Humphrey have been this season. Also Momsen came under fire when she was publically slammed by guest star Tim Gunn for unprofessionalism. Since the beginning Jessica Szohr and Taylor Momsen have been awful vortexes of entertainment; both their wooden acting and their stupid distracting characters, all they need to do is give Nate a decent plot for the first time since the first season and this could be right back on track. This is very, very good news.

Hired!

In the wake of firing two people Gossip Girl has hired Kaylee Defer who is currently guesting as Cousin Charlie, Serena’s cousin from Miami, to appear on the series full time starting in the fall. If she’s gonna take Jenny’s spot and be the new younger blonde troublemaker I wonder who they’ll hire to play the next boring bohemian frigid loser. Defer is the first cast member to be added to the series since the beginning, previously a contract offer was extended to Connor Paolo (Eric Van Der Woodsen), but he declined citing not wanting to be tied down to a project. Don’t know if this is good news yet, Charlie’s third episode is about to air and so far she’s proven nothing more than they typical crazy cousin.

What’s On: Monday!

Today is gonna be brief, I hate to preview and dash but I’ve got a lot on my plate, some of which is enjoying the glorious weather I have here in Toronto (I know, choosing the outdoors vs the warm glow of TV is mega shocking!) Here are our recommendations for tonight, Monday May 9 2011.

The Best:

90210 ”The Prom Before the Storm” 8:00 on CW

Though the prom king and queen were spoiled (I’m not telling here) it’ll still probably gonna be a great night in our favourite zip code, especially considering Beverly Hills 90210′s prom lead us to the brilliant “DONNA MARTIN GRADUATES” 2 parter.

House ”The Fix” 8:00 on FOX

Looks like House is gonna start chasing the dragon tonight, or it’s another misleading promo…

The Chicago Code ”The Black Sox”

Teresa amps up her war against Alderman Gibbons. It’s about frikkin time.

The Event ”One Will Live, One Will Die” 9:00 on NBC

Seeing as this is pretty much guaranteed a cancellation notice next week, can zero live and all of them die? Especially Leila. And especially the Vice President. OH MAN, and especially President Martinez.

Seeing as it’s renewal time lets look at the chances of the Rest:

Chuck 8:00 on NBC – Renewal Chances (RC): 50/50.

Dancing With The Stars 8:00 on ABC – Renewed as long as there are F list celebs looking for attention.

The Secret Life of the American Teenager 8:00 on ABC Family – Cable series have a different renewal schedule.

How I Met Your Mother 8:00 on CBS – Renewed for two more seasons.

Mad Love 8:30 on CBS – RC: Dim, like it’s comedic efforts.

Gossip Girl 9:00 on CW – Renewed already.

Make It or Break It 9:00 on ABC Family – Same as Secret Life…

Mike and Molly 9:30 on CBS – RC: In light of everything to do with two and a half men, looks like a keeper.

The Hard Times of RJ Berger 10:00 on MTV – Also cable.

Law and Order: LA 10:00 on NBC – RC: Pretty grim.

Hawaii 5-0 10:00 on CBS – RC: It’s only a matter of time.

Castle 10:01 on ABC – Already renewed.

Nurse Jackie 10:00 on SHO – Cable.

United States of Tara 10:30 on SHO – Also cable. But also awful.

Gossip Girl Recap: So Wait…No Dair or Chair!?!?

Sometimes I picuture the GG writers room as a group of giddy brace-faced 13 year old girls. And why not, the show certainly seems like it was written by a 13 year old, the endless shifting romances, the unnecessitated cattiness and crazy cousin Charlie.

Side Note: As a lover of TV I feel you can never have enough crazy cousins, but two cousins, both nutty as the day is long, on both CW monday series in the same season is ridiculous.

We last left the upper-east side with Lily turning herself in for sending Ben to jail. And tonight the Rhodes/Van Der Woodsen/Humphreys were gathering to a photo shoot called ‘Modern Royalty’, which frankly I’m surprised everyone wanted to be in cause it sounded so gauche.

Lily’s boho sister Carol (LA Law’s Sheila Kelley) came for the shoot and to support her sister and her daughter Charlie stowed away. Carol had tried to keep Charlie away from the toxic life that caused Serena and Eric to both be institutionalized, her father to fake her mother’s cancer and her mother to send a man to jail so Serena could go back to private school. No offence to the Van Der clan but it’s kinda sound logic.

Caroline Lagerfelt is always welcome as Cece Rhodes, Lily’s total bitch mother, and last night needed her – she was the best thing in a totally terrible episode.

How terrible? Oh let me count the ways!

Blair reeling from her kiss with Lonely Boy had stayed in bed for a week to suss out her feelings. Dan or Chuck, would she be Dair or Chair. She decided she loved Chuck, but after Chuck found out she kissed Dan he enlisted the obnoxious Epperly (seriously why bring her back?) to embaress Dan by inviting him to the shoot. Well this didn’t sit well with Blair who all of the sudden, as if out of the blue decided she didn’t like games anymore.

First off, screw you Gossip Girl. How dare you build a fresh and interesting romance like Blair and Dan only to have it die out as if it were nothing. Were they freeing up Blair to be with Chuck (who lets face it, she’s meant for)? No, god forbid the viewers should have a semblance of any sort of romantic stability on the show. Were they freeing up Dan to be the object of cousing Charlie’s affection? Probably, which is so unfortunate and lame becuase courting Blair made me like Dan for the first time ever. EVER.

Series creator and showrunner Josh Schwartz is getting very close to the same mistakes he was making on The OC. Chuck and Blair could be Ryan and Marissa or Summer and Seth for the amount of breaking up and getting back together they do.

Chace Crawford must have done something really awful to the writers becuase Nate is still doing absolutely nothing. In fact his plots are so scant that it seems he’s gonna spend the rest of the season helping the painfully atrocious Raina Thorpe (guest star Tika Sumpter) find her birth mother. What a yawn, just a terrible waste.

The most ridiculous aspect of the whole episode was Vanessa. In a show with plenty of terrible and useless characters (Rufus, Jenny, Nate) Vanessa is hands down the worst. Her two scenes last night were overhearing that Blair and Dan kissed, and calling Serena to tell her. Really? This is Vanessa now? No one wants less Vanessa than me, but if you’re going to have her at least have her do something in character. Vanessa is supposed to be above all this shit, and I get that she’s trying to hurt Serena and Blair, but the way she did it was so petty and uneventful it was almost irrelevant. The direction Vanessa’s heading isn’t necessarily a bad one - if they want to make her an antagonist I’m behind it, but they should make her really bad. Blair would have never left juicy gossip on a voice mail like that, she would have hatched a scheme, caused a big scene and been awesome.

I liked the tease about Charlie being crazy and it seemed (based on some curious glances from Carol) that Charlie gets especially boy-crazy. It just would have been nice to throw Nate this bone and give him something to do.

At the end a limo pulled up and a dude with a shoe got out of the car. It took me a good 5 minutes and rewinding to remember that it was the bland Prince that Blair met in Paris.

Gossip Girl is getting stale, but then it usually does as the season winds down, but the temporary dullness usually sets the stage for a killer endgame, and (SPOILER ALERT) with Georgina Sparks coming back in May it’s gonna get better for sure.

A bright spot? The promo for next week hints that Blair and Dan may not necessarily be over for good!

What’s On Monday: Cougar Town, 90210 and Gossip Girl are back!

It was 3 months ago that Courtney Cox and Cougar Town vacated it’s prime post Modern Family spot to make space for her ex-TV husband Matthew Perry and Mr. Sunshine. Finally the cul-de-sac crew returns, and on a special night too, one that also sees the return of nerd-boinking Naomi Clark and our favorite upper-east siders. Here are our recommendations for tonight, Monday April 18 2011.

The Best:

90210 “Enchanted Donkey” 8:00 on CW

Silver and Adrianna still battling? Yup! Naomi still loving nerds? Yup! Tonight TV’s juiciest and guiltiest pleasure returns with the whole gang taking a trip down to Cabo for spring break. This series was at its best when Naomi and Annie were warring last season and it’s gearing up to be that fun again with Silver and Adrianna’s battle over Navid. It gets mad intense tonight.

House “The Last Temptation” 8:00 on FOX

It’s Amber Tamblyn’s last episode, and the first time that two women will be on House’s team at the same time (Cameron and Thirteen never were, and his reality show selection process doesn’t count). For her farewell they’ve made it Martha Masters centric. She could return;  Wilde has yet to sign a contract for next season. Check out the promo and tune in tonight for what Tamblyn calls a juicy scene with her and 13.

How I Met Your Mother “Hopeless” 8:00 on CBS

Barney tries to get to know his father (a returning John Lithgow) better by spending some quality time with him. Of course for a Stinson that means getting arrested. Robin falls in love with Sam Anders.. I mean Michael Trucco. I have to keep reminding myself that Battlestar isn’t real.

Gossip Girl “The Kids Stay in the Picture” 9:00 on CW

When we last left off Lily was confessing her part in framing Ben and Serena and Eric’s father William (William Baldwin) had returned to NYC. Tonight Cece Rhodes (Caroline Lagerfelt) and her sister Carol (Sheila Kelly, but the part was played by Kristen Ritter in the backdoor pilot two years ago) come to NYC to support Lily in these tough times. Carol’s daughter Charlie (Kaylee DeFer, The War at Home) comes too. This makes me nervous, the last cousin the CW introduced was 90210′s cousin Emily – and she was just the worst – lets hope cousin Charlie is less obnoxious. Also the love triangle between Chuck, Blair and Dan becomes a square tonight as Vanessa, the worst character ever (yes worse than Jenny) gets involved and likely is terrible.

Cougar Town “Walls” 9:30 on ABC

Damn it’s been too long. I’ve really missed the Cul-de-Sac crew, their games, their hijinx and all the fun I have playing Penny can at home while I watch. And as a reward for our patience, ABC has given us two new episodes this week, tonight and in it’s regular slot on wedneday.

The Rest:

Chuck 8:00 on NBC – Love it while you can cause it’s looking like a goner.

Dancing with the Stars 8:00 on ABC – Kirstie Alley is a hot mess and the sole reason for watching this season.

The Secret Life of the American Teenager 8:00 on ABC Family – Molly Ringwald Alert!

Mad Love 8:30 on CBS – The worst show with the best cast? Probably.

The Chicago Code 9:00 on FOX – Getting better with every episode and making Delroy Lindo’s villainy ambiguous they’ve made the character relatable which he was not at the start.

The Event 9:00 on NBC – It’s finally time for Lisa Vidal to shine as the First Lady, she gets her very first plot of the season tonight. Is she an alien? Tune in to find out (or just read my recap tomorrow).

Make It or Break It 9:00 on ABC Family – They made it!

William & Kate 9:00 on Lifetime – Royal Wedding fever continues to infect the world. Lifetime airs their movie about how two rich kids met and fell in love (above).

20/20 William and Catherine 10:00 on ABC – More royal fever!

The Hard Times of RJ Berger 10:00 on MTV – Ugh.

Hawaii 5-0 10:00 on CBS – Death is hitting the beach soon. Who’s gonna die?

Law and Order: LA 10:00 on NBC – Fail.

Nurse Jackie 10:00 on SHO – Edie Falco is a f’ing force to contend with. She’s outstanding here.

The United States of Tara 10:30 on SHO – Toni Collete is wasted to death here.

What’s On: Family Day Monday!

In Ontario we have something called Family Day, and it’s a government holiday so Ima gon relax today! Here are our recommendations for tonight, Monday February 21 2011.

90210 “It’s High Time” 8:00 on CW

Cousin Emily’s (guest Abbie Cobb) fatwa on all things Annie continues tonight as she takes Annie’s job, friends and man! I hate this cousin Emily plot, but imagine if she joins forces with Jasper to bring Annie down. I miss Jasper. Also the boys take Teddy for a night out to show him everything’s the same, but he feels they’re treating him different.

House “Two Stories” 8:00 on FOX

House goes to career day and based on the title probably tells two stories. I love when kids and curmudgeons meet. Looks like a fun one from the promo.

The Cape “The Lich part 2″ 9:00 on NBC

The Lich part one was so far the series’ best episode and tonight is the conclusion. The Lich (Dirty Sexy Money’s Brian Fitzgerald) and Netta (Illeana Douglas) keep Orwell hostage and the Cape relies on his wife’s legal connections to find him. Give it a watch before it dies.

Castle “The Setup part 1″ 10:00 on ABC

A murder leads to a bigger conspiracy involving a radioactive bomb on tonight’s Castle. Heroes’ Adrian Pasdar guest stars as the federal agent who works alongside Castle and Beckett. Expect a cliffhanger with Beckett’s life in the balance probably.

Everything Else:

The Bachelor 8:00 on ABC – Who will he choose? Will he actually choose someone this time?

Chuck 8:00 on NBC – I don’t love this show, but I do love that it gave Chevy Chase the his TV comeback.

How I Met Your Mother 8:00 on CBS – Ted has a run in with Zoey’s (guest Jennifer Morrison) ex-husband The Captain (guest Kyle McLachlan)

Pretty Little Liars 8:00 on ABC Family – Aria ponders upon the legitimacy of her relationship with Ezra (pictured above together), her high school english teacher. Hasn’t this Hot-For-Teacher plot been done to death? And never better than in Dawson’s Creek?

Mad Love 8:30 on CBS – Hopefully this perfect cast couple sitcom will have a better second outing. It’s pilot stunk.

Being Human 9:00 on Syfy – I just cant. I needs me my Annie (pictured). I am not a Sally dude.

The Chicago Code 9:00 on FOX – I liked the second episode of Shawn Ryan’s cop drama, but I LOVE Jennifer Beals’ Chicago accent. I’m down for episode three.

Gossip Girl 9:00 on CW – I officially can’t stand Tika Sumpter as Raina Thorpe on Gossip Girl, what I can stand/officially LOVE is the beginnings of DAIR!!!!

Greek 9:00 on ABC FamilyJust a few more episodes left catch it if you can.

Mike & Molly 9:30 on CBS – Old sex this week instead of fat sex.

Harry’s Law 10:00 on NBC – For a ghetto her neighborhood looks rather quaint.

Hawaii Five-O 10:00 on CBS – Get ready for the Secret World of Alex Mack’s Larisa Oleynik!

Skins 10:00 on MTV – Just die already.

I’m mad excited for Castle!!

What’s On: St. Valentine’s MonDay!

It’s a romantic monday and love is not only in the air it’s also on the tube, here are our recommendations for tonight, Monday St. Valentine’s Day February 14th 2011.

The Highlights:

90210 “Revenge with the Nerd” 8:00 on CW

With the news that Ryan Eggold and Lori Laughlin are leaving the series at the end of this season it opens up two spots in the roster. 90210 has kept a nearly perfect record of 1 person leaving, 1 recurring upgraded; Jessica Walter leaves – Jessica Lowndes joins, Dustin Milligan leaves – Matt Lanter joins, Rob Estes leaves – Trevor Donovan and Gillian Zinser join, and now with Laughlin and Eggold’s departure my math tells me we have one or two available spots. Who will it go to? Abbie Cobb, the nasty cousin Emily? Blair Redford, the Brit Oscar? A heretofore unseen character? Perhaps the rapper Nelly? Don’t laugh he’s on the show tonight.

Series Premiere Alert!

Mad Love “Fireworks” 8:30 on CBS

What looks like another in the line of rather formulaic, well casted relationship based series. Perfect Couples, Traffic Lights, this and ABC’s Happy Endings are all pretty much the same. What seems to set this series apart from the rest is Judy Greer and it’s laugh track and only one of those is a good thing.

The Chicago Code “The Hog Butcher” 9:00 on FOX

Teresa Colvin and Jarek Wysocki go after the killer of Teresa’s latin boytoy. I really enjoyed the pilot, but I expected it to pack more of a punch than it did, despite the clunky voice overs and frantic exposition, the dialogue is smart for a cop show, and the acting was very good too, I really enjoyed Matt Lauria as the keen eyed rookie and Lindo is right at home with Tim Roth and Hugh Laurie as one of FOX’s grandiose leading men. It set itself up for a really interesting first season.

Gossip Girl “It-Girl Happened One Night” 9:00 on CW

Chuck Bass is fighting for Bass Industries’ life both in the boardroom against Russell Thorpe (Michael Boatman, Spin City and China Beach) and and the bedroom against his daughter Raina (Tika Sumpter). I’m more in it for Blair’s internship at W. This show will not survive minus Meester and Westwick.

Mike & Molly “First Valentine’s Day” 9:30 on CBS

This show is really charming the pants off a me. Melissa McCarthy is perfect, 9 years as a supporting player on Gilmore Girls and Samantha Who? has seasoned her perfectly for Molly. Tonight has Mike’s V-Day plans thrown into jeopardy after he meets Molly’s cute ex-boyfriend (guest star Robert Gant, Queer as Folk).

Castle “The Final Nail” 10:00 on ABC

Castle’s best friend (guest star Jason Wiles, Third Watch and last summer’s Persons Unknown) is investigated by Beckett for his own wife’s murder forcing Castle to do some shady things to help a friend.

The rest of this blaoted monday’s fare:

The Bachelor 8:00 on ABC – Will Brad choose a lady this time around.

Chuck 8:00 on NBC – Lou Diamond Philips guest stars. Yup, the same Lou Diamond Philips that won I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

House 8:00 on FOX – House treats a woman with a perfect memory. He also probably pisses people off and abuses Martha M. Masters (Amber Tamblyn)

How I Met Your Mother 8:00 on CBS – Last week’s was cute and I’m totally a Zoey fan, it just… if he doesn’t remember her cousin’s name does that mean he didn’t marry her. Probably, Zoey also wasn’t Cindy’s (Rachel Bilson) roommate.

Pretty Little Liars 8:00 on ABC Family – I hope blind Jenna shows up to torment her step brother who she was sleeping with.

Being Human 9:00 on Syfy – The gals at Sugarbaker Designs are worried when Suzanne (Delta Burke) steals a man from Mary Jo (Annie Potts). Yes, I wish this was Designing Women (left).

Greek 9:00 on ABC Family - Olesya Rulin, geeky song writer and Kelsey from the High School Musical series guest stars in the episode that has the gang snowed in Dobler’s at Calvin’s birthday.

The Cape 9:00 on NBC – I like Summer Glau but I can’t stand David Lyons.

2 and a half Men 9:30 on CBS – Sheen’s last pre-rehab episode. Enjoy it if you must.

Harry’s Law 10:00 on NBC – Kathy Bates’ role need more juice if she’s gonna stand out from a super perky and well cast Brittany Snow and a right at home Nate Corddry.

Hawaii 5-O 10:00 on CBS – Its still a week till Larisa Oleynik (right, in The Secret World of Alex Mack and 3rd Rock from the Sun) comes to Hawaii to join the series giving it the needed sexual tension boost.

Skins 10:00 on MTV – Tonight’s episode is about Stanley (the Sid character). But Naomi Sniekus was in last week’s episode and it was awesome to see her.

What’s On: Monday After Superbowl a.k.a. 1st Monday of Sweeps

What a game, eh? And there’s no better way to burn off the calories from a Superbowl party like watching 11 hours of primetime television, everyone is new tonight, everyone is back, and hot damn it’s gonna be a good night. Here are our recommendations for tonight, Monday February 7th, 2011

House “Family Practice” 8:00 on FOX

It’s a family affair as Candice Bergen plays both Cuddy’s mother and the patient who refuses to be treated. Also certified Show-Killer Paula Marshall guest stars as Cuddy’s sister. Even though every series she’s ever starred on (Cupid, Snoops, Out of Practice) has died an unceremonious and quiet death, I am still very fond of Paula Marshall and look forward to her tonight.

How I Met Your Mother “Oh Honey” 8:00 on CBS

Katy Perry guest stars as Zooey’s (guest star Jennifer Morrison) super hot cousin, who Marshall meets Rashomon-style via flashbacks from the group. Anyway she’ll apparently help Barney find his father. The clips below are from Katy Perry’s youtube page and DONT HAVE LAUGHTRACK. HIMYM seems so much better without it…

Two and a Half Men “Three Hookers and a Philly Cheesesteak” 9:00 on CBS

Umm… No. You know what. Too easy. Here’s the promo.

SERIES PREMIERE ALERT!!!!

THE CHICAGO CODE “Pilot” 9:00 on FOX

Tonight FOX’s best new drama (if we’re to trust advance word, and I DO!) premieres, The Chicago Code, from The Shield mastermind Shawn Ryan and Angel collaborator Tim Minear is about two former partners Teresa Colvin and Jarek Wysocki (Jennifer Beals and Jason Clarke above) who’s police careers take different paths; she is the newly promoted Police superintendent and he is a hard-boiled detective. She taps him to covertly investigate city corruption stemming from a corrupt Alderman played with menace by veteran Delroy Lindo. Also for fans of Friday Night Lights, it stars Matt Lauria (FNLs Luke Cafferty) as a young detective and Wysocki’s partner. Looks like it has the right amount of action and tense bureaucratic confrontations to be a network mix of The Shield and The Wire.

Hawaii Five-O “E Malama” 10:00 on CBS

The Five-O team must find and protect a witness to a very high profile murder case when she escapes assassins and runs deep into the jungle. Sounds like a lot of fun. I’m really happy Les Moonves found a vehicle for his boy toy O’Laughlin, and it looks like this will have a long, long life.

The Rest:

Chuck 8:00 on NBC – John Larroquette guest stars as an agent needing Chuck and Sarah’s distinct brand of rescue.

Pretty Little Liars 8:00 on ABC Family – I’ve been hanging out at Shooters a lot lately, and it’s really making me appreciate Laura Leighton.

90210 8:00 on CW – Cousin Emily really grinds my gears. Here’s hoping she dies tonight, which she doesn’t cause she’s around till the end of the season. Tonight Emily makes Annie’s life hell as she plots to sabotage an audition.

Rules of Engagement 8:30 on CBS – Is David Spade really like that?

The Cape 9:00 on NBC – Another notch in Summer Glau’s genre TV show belt that will die in about 6 episodes.

Greek 9:00 on ABC Family – Cappie and Casey spend a lovely evening together. What a lovely way to begin the swan song.

Gossip Girl 9:00 on CW – Damien Daalgard (Kevin Zegers) stirs up trouble on the upper east side.

Mike & Molly 9:30 on CBS – Mike’s mom asks Molly for help. Which, if you’ve ever see the show, is a really big deal.

Castle 10:00 on ABC – A lottery winner is murdered. Quel tragique!!!

Harry’s Law 10:00 on NBC – Guest star Christopher McDonald (who looks like he wants a regular contract on this show) takes on the fast food chains like they’re big tobacco.

Skins 10:00 on MTV – Tonight is the Cassie episode, except is not Cassie is it, it’s (hold on looking it up…) It’s Cadie. Anyways I miss Hanna Murray, her star child look really made Cassie the space cadet she’s meant to be.

Being Human 10:00 on Syfy – Speaking of not holding a candle, Lenora Critchlow is sorely missed in this North America version.

What are you watching tonight? I live in Canada, so I also have last night’s Showtime dramas and the premiere of Mr. Sunshine which I’ll review and cover for it’s US premiere on Wed. Have a great night, folks!

What’s On: Sheen-free Monday

With Charlie Sheen in rehab and 2 and 1/2 Men on indefinite hiatus, another series, hopefully not one drenched in raunch aiming at the most basest laughs, will emerge as Monday’s most watched and top series, I have a feeling NBC’s slate might be the surprise winner. It looks like it’s going to be a sweet monday. All the nets (minus CBS) are new tonight and Lie To Me is airing it’s season and possibly series finale. It and few others are out recommendations for tonight, Monday January 31 2011.

The Highs:

Human Target “Kill Bob” 8:00 on FOX

I’m a few behind, but one of the joys of Human Target is that I can watch tonight’s episode without worrying about missing crucial information. It’s detractors are still mourning the loss of the boy’s club, but I relish them (well more Pucci than Ames, but Ames doesn’t make it worse). Human Target is one of the lower rated series on FOX, so watch it while you can. Tonight, a man suspects his wife (Lauren German, Happy Town and Hostel 2) is really a Russian spy assigned to kill him and enlists Chance & co’s aid.

90210 “It’s Getting Hot in Here” 8:00 on CW

Adrianna, Silver, Nay Nay and Annie head to Ojai for a meditation weekend and Annie forced to bring along cousin Emily. Emily shows her true colours as a complete sociopath. Love it.

SEASON (and possibly SERIES) FINALE ALERT!!!

Lie To Me “Killer App” 9:00 on FOX

I love Lie To Me. I will be immensely sad to see it go if this is in fact it’s last episode. I imagine it’s not the most expensive series to produce. If one truly wants to see Glee on TV, look no further than Tim Roth’s Gleefully randy performance. In tonight’s finale one of Foster’s patients turns up dead after fearing being squeezed out by her business parter (Nikita’s Ashton Holmes).

Harry’s Law “Innocent Man” 10:00 on NBC

I actually like Harry’s law. Like Lifetime’s cute Drop Dead Diva, Harry’s Law doesn’t take itself seriously. Less preachy and lighter than Kelley’s The Practice or Boston Legal. It has more of Ally McBeal’s vibe, except slightly more urban. Check out the promo for  tonight’s episode which features guests Steve Harris (Eugene Young from The Practice) and Margo Martindale, who’s about to recur as the big bad on Justified’s season 2.

The Lows:

Pretty Little Liars 8:00 on ABC Family – Spencer turns to Ali’s brother Jason find out more information regarding her murder. Emily contends with a  swimming rival named Paige, played by guest star Lindsey Shaw who starred and kicked ass on ABC Family’s recently cancelled series 10 Things I Hate about you.

The Bachelor 8:00 on ABC – Brad Womack sluts it up.

Chuck 8:00 on NBC – Unsure of the back 9 pick-up Chuck’s 4th season was intended to end with tonight’s episode. Id did get the back nine pick up, so tonight only brings the end of the current arc. Timothy Dalton and Linda Hamilton guest star in an episode creator Josh Schwartz boasts will end with ”best 10 minutes in the show’s history” Big statement.

The Cape 9:00 on NBC – Is Dorian Missick’s (right)  character supposed to be good or bad. I can’t tell and it’s hard on my noggin, so instead i just stare at Summer Glau and enjoy the escapism, adventure and the Richard Schiff guest spots.

Greek 9:00 on ABC Family – Antepenultimate Greek! Cappie throws a homecoming party!

Gossip Girl 9:00 on CW – It’s DAN vs. BLAIR Also Bass Industries’ future is on the rocks as Russell Thorpe (Michael Boatman) and his daughter Raina (Tika Sumpter) stick around to make life hell.

Skins 10:00 on MTV - The second episode focusing on the only original character, Tea who replaced Maxxie. It felt kinda wrong and dirty, which I get is Skins’ appeal but still it makes me uneasy. Tonight, for those who care, is about Chris, the care free party dude.

Being Human 10:00 on Syfy – The hair/wig that Mark Pellegrino (Lost island magnate, Jacob) has to wear makes him look so ridiculous. Just because that hair style made Jason Watkins an unassuming threat in the original doesn’t mean it translates to America. Not bad casting – just really bad hair-  maybe even worse than JJ from No Ordinary Family.

Who’s shag is worse for you?

Check back soon for more TV juiciness!
