Fired! Teddy’s leaving the Zip.

When Annalynne McCord said there were gonna be cuts on 90210 she wasn’t kidding.

It was announced today that Trevor Donovan was the first to get the axe.

Last season saw his womanizer character come to terms with his homosexuality and come out of the closet after his secret boyfriend secretly blackmailed him. Though he wont return as a regular he will guest star in the four or five episodes early in the fall.

Donovan marks the third cast member fired after Lori Laughlin and Ryan Eggold in the behind the scenes shake-up that also included the exit of showrunner Rebecca Rand Kirshner Sinclair and the hiring of Patti Carr and Lara Olsen (a writing duo who worked together on Life Unexpected, Reba and Private Practice).

The REAL BAU is back together! PRENTISS IN! SEAVER OUT!

Prentiss is back in the BAU!

Paget Brewster is joining AJ Cook, and like her, has inked a deal to return to Criminal Minds full time starting next season. The fan favourite’s NBC pilot, My Life is an Experiment, didn’t get picked up which has freed up Brewster to return to Minds like co-star AJ Cook.

Not coming back next season is Rachel Nichols who joined the cast earlier this season as cadet Ashley Seaver. She joined mostly to fill the void left by Cook’s departure.

Thomas Gibson, who plays the team leader Aaron Hotchner is the only castmember yet to ink a deal.

I stopped watching Criminal Minds on a regular basis at the beginning of the 6th season, pretty much in protest of how they tinkered with a formula that was working fine and essentially banished their women. I’m pleased to see they’ve come to their senses.

Chris Meloni leaving SVU!

When Law & Order: Special Victims Unit returns for a 13th season this fall it will return sans it’s original star Chris Meloni who was unable to reach an acceptable contract agreement with NBC.

Recently the other original anchor Mariska Hargitay renewed her contract for a scaled back 13, with the idea being that she is promoted and another female police office would be cast to take her place, in fact it was reported that producers are looking for Jennifer Love Hewitt as her possible replacement. Looks like they have to hire two new cast members.

Looks like two more actors are set to “Win the Lottery” as  Ashton Kutcher referred to it (his hiring at Two and a Half Men).

FALL 2011: LISA EDELSTEIN LEAVING HOUSE!

This is a brutal blow for fans of the show, whether you like the verbal discourse and medical mysteries or your a Huddy ‘shipper fans weren’t mixed about Edelstein.

In one of the more shocking cast changes of the season so far FOX revealed today that Lisa Edelstein is leaving House and wont return for the 8th and likely last season. How is House possibly going to recover from this?

BEST. FIRED. EVER.

Spotted, two of the most unbearable characters are getting the axe from the upper east side. I can barely contain my excitement because…

TAYLOR MOMSEN AND JESSICA SZOHR WERE FIRED!!!

It’s not really surprising considering how off to the side both Vanessa and Jenny Humphrey have been this season. Also Momsen came under fire when she was publically slammed by guest star Tim Gunn for unprofessionalism. Since the beginning Jessica Szohr and Taylor Momsen have been awful vortexes of entertainment; both their wooden acting and their stupid distracting characters, all they need to do is give Nate a decent plot for the first time since the first season and this could be right back on track. This is very, very good news.

Hired!

In the wake of firing two people Gossip Girl has hired Kaylee Defer who is currently guesting as Cousin Charlie, Serena’s cousin from Miami, to appear on the series full time starting in the fall. If she’s gonna take Jenny’s spot and be the new younger blonde troublemaker I wonder who they’ll hire to play the next boring bohemian frigid loser. Defer is the first cast member to be added to the series since the beginning, previously a contract offer was extended to Connor Paolo (Eric Van Der Woodsen), but he declined citing not wanting to be tied down to a project. Don’t know if this is good news yet, Charlie’s third episode is about to air and so far she’s proven nothing more than they typical crazy cousin.

FIRED!

Charlie Sheen has been fired from Two and a Half Men by Warner Brothers Television.

Finally.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last two weeks you no doubt know of the shit storm Charlie Sheen has been wreaking upon himself, CBS and the world.

Warner Bros TV says: “After careful consideration, Warner Bros. Television has terminated Charlie Sheen’s services from `Two and A Half Men’ effective immediately”

Upon learning the news Sheen spoke to TMZ; ”This is very good news. They continue to be in breach, like so many whales. It is a big day of gladness at the Sober Valley Lodge because now I can take all of their bazillions, never have to look at whatshiscock again and I never have to put on those silly shirts for as long as this warlock exists in the terrestrial dimension.”

CBS will probably cancel the series but there is a production deal in place for a ninth season of TV’s number one sitcom.

What’s On: Life-Slot Friday!

With Fringe’s numbers dipping ever so slightly last week, we need to channel our collective Karma points towards big(ger) numbers for Fringe tonight – we’ll see how much of a ratings chunk those Winchester boys and the NYC crime lab will take from Fringe. There’s a lot of fresh TV for our recommendations for tonight, Friday February 11 2011.

What’s Hot:

The Defenders “Nevada v. Doug the Mule” 8:00 on CBS

Dan Aykroyd guest stars tonight as a Judge who gets on Nick’s nerves as the boys defend a man named Doug (guest star Ryan Pinkston, Tower Prep) tricked into muling 30 bricks of cocaine. At least this isn’t According to Jim.

Smallville “Beacon” 8:00 on CW

Annette O’Toole and John Glover return to Smallville tonight. Martha comes to Metropolis to speak at a pro-vigilante rally and gets shot and Lionel returns to take control of LutherCorp from Tess. It also guest stars Lucas Grabeel (Ryan from High School Musical)

FringeImmortality 9:00 on FOX

Tonight, as you can probably tell by the colour of the text, we return to “OVER THERE”. Sweet. Like Peter, I kind of miss Fauxlivia and I always welcome appearances by by Seth Gabel and Kirk Acevedo who play Over There Fringe team agents Lincoln Lee, who we’ve yet to see on our side, I wonder if that’ll ever happen, and Charlie Francis, who met his end on our side when he was murdered and replaced by a shapeshifter. As a massive fan of the acting on Fringe, I look forward to seeing any of my faves play their red universe character. DEATH SLOT BE DAMNED. I PROCLAIM THIS THE LIFE SLOT.

Spartacus: Gods of the Arena “Beneath the Mask” 10:00 on Starz

The house of Batiatus continues to be transformed into a brothel under the paterfamilas’ nose. It’s only a matter of time before Gannicus, Melita, Gaia, Tullius and Vettius meet some unmentioned end in this prequel series.

What’s Sort of Hot?

Who Do You Think You Are? 8:00 on ABC - Tim McGraw think’s he’s an singer-SLASH-actor.

CSI:NY 9:00 on CBS – CBS procedurals – where B-List actors (Gary Sinise) go to collect huge pay cheques.

The Ricky Gervais Show 9:00 on HBO – About as close to masturbation as is allowed on television.

Supernatural 9:00 on CW – Mitch Pileggi (Skinner on the X-Files) guests as the boy’s grandfather as Sam and Dean investigate a acse that Sam worked on with Gramps before reconnecting with Dean.

Real Time with Bill Maher 10:00 on HBO – Billy M gets real on nighttime cable.

The Soup 10:00 on E! – Joel McHale is even more metrosexual than Jeff Winger in this role as.. um… himself.

The Onion News Network 10:00 on IFC – Really, really, funny. Like if you don’t laugh, BYBO.

Portlandia 10:30 on IFC – I don’t know if I’m hip enough to watch this.

That’s the haps for tonight.

Casting News! Fired & Hired!

FIRED!

90210 Logan’s Run the Aged Out of the Zip Code.

Lori Laughlin and Ryan Eggold are leaving the CW series after the end of this current season.  I could tell you why, but Lori Laughlin spoke to EW and said this:

“Ryan and I will finish the season and then we’re done. There’s just not much for me to do, It is a very big cast and it is hard to service all of us. The focus of the show is the kids. The parents were essentially there to service the story lines of the kids, and occasionally we got a few separate story lines, but  it just wasn’t really working in a way that all of us had enough to do. The CW has a demographic that they appeal to, and they do it very well.”

On her and her characters future:

“I think we will wrap with enough time that it could work for me to join another show. I am not sure how they are going to handle the whole exit, I would guess they may wrap some things up but then again they have already asked me if I would come back for a some episodes next year if they need me.  I don’t think they will be shipping us back to Kansas or anything. [The kids] are going off to college so I am sure changes will be made in that respect. They will probably just move them out of the house.”

Well, that’s not really a shock, but for any 90210 fans that liked seeing Aunt Becky week after week, it’s a disappointment. Eggold’s character, teacher Ryan Mattehws has nailed every single character not in high school and after Laughlin (who is by far the oldest) there’s no one left for his character to romance. Both Eggold and Laughlin have been on 90210 since the beginning.

HIRED!

Law & Order: Criminal Intent finds it’s last Captain.

Jay O. Sanders, a character actor mostly known for his film work in movies like Kiss The Girls, The Day After Tomorrow and playing Blake Lively’s father in this year’s Green Lantern, is coming to USA’s L&O:CI to be the captain in charge of Vincent D’Onofrio and Katherine Erbe. He is the fourth captain in the series following Jamey Sheridan, Eric Bogosian and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio.  Criminal Intent’s 10th and final season premieres this summer and Sanders is signed on for the entire (and short) 8 episode season.

Fired? Quit? Leaving.

It was announced today that Audra McDonald, the Tony and Grammy award winning star of Private Practice announced today that she is leaving the ABC drama after the current 4th season to spend more time with her east coast family.

Or is it possibly her character has gone stale and it’s time for Dr. Naomi Bennett to move on. Word is that her character’s exit will allow for future guest appearances.

McDonald replaced Merrin Dungey who played Bennett in the backdoor pilot. Private Practice’s loss is Broadway’s gain, she’s got a killer set of pipes.

Here she is as Naomi Bennett.

RETIRED/HIRED!

Regis Philbin retiring?!?!

Regis Philbin is calling it quits after hosting Live with Regis and Kathie Lee Kelly for 28 years. He made the announcement on his show this morning.  “I don’t want to alarm anybody … but this will be my last year on the show, there is a time that everything must come to an end for certain people on camera, especially certain old people.” No end date yet but it’ll likely be somewhere towards the end of the summer. As a staunch Regis Philbin lover, this saddens me a little bit. I don’t watch Regis and Kelly, but asides from Philbin there are few legends of Television left on the air, and Larry just left us too.

Spartacus’ loincloth to be filled by Liam McIntyre!

Starz manhunt to replace the role of Spartacus in the second season of Spartacus: Blood and Sand, after Andy Whitfield bowed out to focus on his cancer treatment, has ended and Liam McIntyre has been cast.

McIntyre, whose scant list of credits includes HBO’s The Pacific and long-running Australian soap Neighbours, has survived the long casting process and beaten frontrunners like Being Human’s Aiden Turner. He spoke to the NYTimes earlier; “It’s been the toughest thing, every actor dreams of getting a big break, a big opportunity. Andy’s such a wonderful actor. I don’t want to follow that guy, and everybody hurts that he’s had to give up the role, myself included.” I’ve never seen McIntyre before, but he sure looks like Whitfield.

John Hannah and Lucy Lawless return for the prequel season Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, which premiers on STARZ on Jan. 21.
